6 Jan Text replacement with Cufón
by admin Posted in DesignNo Comments

For a very long time, the web was filled with very plain fonts.
Unpleased with this lack of variety, a group of developers invented sIFR, which used Javascript and Flash to replace boring text with lively fonts. But sIFR had a problem: not everyone liked or used Flash. It was also slow.
Then, David Chester created typeface.js. typeface.js was brilliant in that it was purely Javascript, with no Flash involved. But typeface.js was slow to load and required large files.

And most recently from Simo Kinnunen came cufón, More info can be found here.

mikizzi by Spell with flickr

This a really cool project created by Erik Kastner.
I really love it!

Spell with Flickr is a fun little program that invites users to type in whatever they want to, then matches each letter of that word with letter pictures straight from Flickr. If you don’t like the images that come back, no problem – just click on each individual image to change it.

Magento a great piece of ecommerce software for online shops and stores. Magento is huge in amazing out of the box functionality and easy to customise for your specific requirement.

I have built a refined and highly tuned sales engines that are easy to optimise and bring results. The stock an sale management capability provided by Magento is second to none. One example of my experience with Magento system you can look at: kirnazabete

There are many key ingredients to building a successful shop from the architecture, search engine performance and sale conversion which of course are driven by great and engaging web design and great web applications like Magento.

4 Oct Using Wordpress as CMS
by admin Posted in DesignNo Comments

Fast forward to today, and now we have WordPress – an amazingly powerful content management system that is FREE. And it has a lot of power under the hood for a small or medium business looking for an easy way to manage their web site.

WordPress was designed as a platform for blogging, but you don’t have to use it as a blogging tool. With a few tweaks it can be used to run your website, with or without a “blog.” The fact that WordPress was designed as a blogging platform gives it some compelling advantages. It is optimized for easily publishing and changing content.  And getting good search engine rankings requires fresh, unique content. You need a system that does not get in your way when you want to update your website with a new article or newsletter.

So this is why WordPress is a good choice!

3 Oct my experience with sIFR
by admin Posted in DesignNo Comments

My experience with sIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) started few years ago when I was working at one of the most talented web agency in London called pod1. Design there were stressing me out to use font replacement every where which means a lot of work for me for cutting up all those crazy images…I did some research on my best friend google and I approached this cool technology, after some read of the documentation, I start  trying it out.

Unfortunately at that time this complex feathers was quite unstable and I worked so much to make it work properly. sIFR is very powerful tool and I was glad after verified all the accessibility compliance with W3C (Worldwide Web Consortium), to use it in all my on go projects. After myself other producers at pod1 start using it, some people was enthusiastic some people don’t, but this depend how confident you are using it. My last project I used sIFR at pod1 was: www.fredolsencruises.com
